The combat in the original version can be incredibly frustrating.

That would also make sense, now I think about it. I’d personally doubt it because of how powerful the forager line is meant to be; but you’re not wrong and with the problem in game storyline, it’s actually very possible she’d have volunteered, or been “volun-told.” I personally thought it was clones of either Manilla herself from the time she was a baby, or her Mom. Or a sister she didn’t know about. Shiela actually looks pretty similar to both builds, so I figured that might be intended.
Also, there is a renpy remake I would recommend that allows you to assume you won the combat. So it can safely be skipped or not, depending on the outcome you want.
