Sorcerer – 1

Story

Before you ask, no I couldn’t think of a better time to have chosen to do a review of this game if I tried. Damned near everyone’s a freak like me. Honest. I’m not the shortest stack to see, and there’s even one with a leg more busted then mine is. Yippee.

Now, that’s not to say there’s not some brilliant character work. I’ve already discussed how impressed I am with the crafted tale in general in the recommendations, so I’ll spare you the rewind, and get into some gory-er details. First, you start as a man who was orphaned. You end up as the patron of a demon (I know I hate when that happens, personally) raised by a group of nuns who for once don’t have a stick up their… Ahem, yeah, you know.

Anyway, the point being you’re not just some rando shot-in-the-head courier. There’s still gonna be some fallout… The game makes it quite clear, very quickly that your arse is more Hefner than Potter.

Now that’s not to say every hot scene is. Your mileage and tastes may vary. Widely in fact, and this game allows for that. In the most recent update for example, you finally get to sample a person who adores you that works for you (It was about time she thought, that she should work under you too. I know you know what I mean) There’s several very viable options, and you’ll end up in a harem lifestyle, whether you like it or not.

The thing being, it’s to your direct benefit, with an excellently thought out reason for the lore-based antiquated breeding program. Honestly my only real problem with it is sometimes the who, the why, and the fact the devs haven’t actually gotten to that result yet. It’s implied that some want it, and there’s one so far that’s got the best chance. With the legless wonder soldier girl (I get to call her that; mine’s not too much better on the right side, but at least it’s still attached) being a close second behind. I do think there wasn’t a reason to divide the paths.

Sorcerer – 2

The human side has you rutting with monsters as well. The monster side has you mostly boinking humans, so it’s a little less impactful than it could be otherwise. I do think a choice between light Lord and Dark would add more to the BDSM style than the notions implied rather playfully. By the women. I don’t as a dominant mind myself, who doesn’t mind when someone calls me “Master” (Eh, it’s not gonna happen, but it could, and I would enjoy it) like specifically when the MC doesn’t get the choice to decide it should be allowed. He just arbitrarily decides screw that noise.

Don’t call me Lord, though that’s what I am. Don’t call me master, though you’re basically magically bound to my house and to breed with me, for the rest of your lives. Okay, bit weird, but okay. I do like the compromise with the burnout issue. Coming up with a better defined backstory for why he doesn’t need to care about that was effective.

I don’t know what it means for his mortal state, and a few monstrous people afterward refer to him as human, without any corrections. It’s a bit odd, but I can take it as an oversight, because new lore. Might take a while for him to trust, or get used to enough to point it out. As I said before in the recommendations, he does need to get on actually building a house.

Sorcerer – 3

On the breeding part of that. On setting things up so it’s defensible. The great houses calling his arse in that late in the game, just to say no we deny your right to be a house; bullshit. Especially with the lore in the background. You LITERALLY wrote that the whole world cannot afford lacking sorcerers to the point the houses are all effectively a mass breeding program.

They’re rare enough that denying anyone that has said power to back one up, to make one, is not just stupid. It’s below the benchmark for actually retarded. Yes, I know what the word means; it is the correct usage. If it offends, fix the issue. Then it won’t be. Hell, I half thought that the two girl Lords were going to recruit him, or offer to bend so they’d be part of his. That’s the kind of politics that belong in this harem game.

Also, a troll should be able to have enough magic as a water caster to transmogrify into a more physically appealing form if sex is what she wants from MC. There are better times, and places to moralize, stuff like that is just jarring and will cost you some audience. You did so with the hag, which means you’re aware of the fact people have aesthetic values that should be respected. Again, I like Xhou as a character, but there are other ways, better ways to make you care about her family, and have her allied to the harem.

Mechanics

Really at the end, there aren’t many. There’s a binary path for most choices, but there are enough of them I have to recommend that if you play the game fresh, install the multi mod. It will help you not muck things up. Whether you go human or monster side doesn’t seem to matter all that much to the story, and that’s a shame. There’s not really any dark options, and frankly I like being the hero, but again that doesn’t mean I can’t also be okay with being the one in charge. Jesus.

The artwork is beautiful, the sex scenes don’t drag on that long, but considering how many girls he’s starting to pile up, I’d reach a cut off point soon. The foreplay scenes are going to get unrealistic based on how much seed a guy actually has. Hot blooded or not. I checked it, I see. He’s got a fever of six hundred and three. And on that sour note… what happened to all the mirrors. Ah, damn the luck.

Conclusion

Overall, barring a few nitpicks, this game is a good one. It’s out consistently. It usually has just one link to download (not always, and I hope they work on that point, it gets confusing) The story is progressing nicely, and I am at least sure that all the choices of who gets to your bed will help. Somehow, or way.

Sorcerer – 4

Frankly if Helga can be a magic smith, I don’t see why her sister wouldn’t be able to create some decent armor. Just a thought, since she seems to think a clan of trolls would be “useless” to a great house. I’d say take the shaman, take the promised healer and get the story going, as far as growing the house’s power. You basically have a full main cast.

What with Dagna, the archivist, the spoiler, and the head agency female who probably wants you on her team (so does everybody else Nelly) That doesn’t even count the demon hunters. At least two of them should be on team Harem. For my vote. There’s no reason to overcrowd it. He’s rich as balls, but he’s also only got two to give. No need to bust em.

Unless it’s screaming into a banshee’s wail, and deep inside her. And once more… I’ve probably vexed the crowd. Curses, I got the wrong letter again. Happy Howl-o-Ween, my friends. I’ll be back, but right now, I see a bad moon rising. Stay frosty, because it sure as Lucifer’s petticoat won’t be the MC.

Number 5 is Lord King

Lord King

So here’s a game set in an apocolyptic world where you start of as a capable but revenge driven commoner who lucks into an odd situation. A lady needs your help, and she’s willing to marry you, to get it.

Now, you can choose to use her; or go fully through with it. No spoilers, there’s an issue that will pop up that might make one more viable depending on how ‘goodest’ a boy you want to be. The game’s not done, but if you’re okay with a more anime art style, the animations are good, with some refinements that are currently in progress I’d say this one has potential. Whether or not that’s to be a wreck…

Number 4 – Life Changing Choices

Now, this one recently got a remastered version that isn’t as far along yet. Aside from that, and some small personal frustrations with the story; it’s not badly done. Again, it loses some points with me for being an anime artstyle, but the characters are endearing enough (mostly) I just wish they’d clear up definitively who’s on the MC’s side.

Life Changing Choices

Deal with one specific plot point regarding an old girlfriend who starts the whole thing, and soften the ice queen who lives with you guys but is “hiding something.” If she’s going to be part of a harem game, don’t make her too far into the ‘I’m a bitch, deal with it’ territory. Tsundere isn’t okay indefinitely. They only work BECAUSE they melt, and specifically only to the MC. I’m not asking you to change the whole character.

Just keep in mind there’s only so much any player’s going to put up with, and some of your content in game is particularly dark already. (Read: Clear up the girlfriend issue IE what happened to her exactly, AND where she stands with MC. She should not need to introduce another girl, or imply bi feelings in order to be in the harem. She was his first girl, and his girl first. He should be the only one she’s at all focused on) If I do a review, I’ll cover story more thoroughly.

Number 3 is taken Tales From The Unending Void

Tales From The Unending Void

This one is a decent story, but it’s got a few problems. It’s crossed between Mass Effect, and Star Wars to me. You captain a crew of rebels, trying to get back your “best girl” who’s not actually in the story beyond being taken away. You have a crew of almost all females (one of whom is trans, and yeah that’s not my cup of tea) who all can and or do want to pork you.

There is a pregnancy mechanic that I swear to god has not actually been implemented because thus far there’s exactly one girl you can bone often enough that it might have happened; but it reads not pregnant. Even if you continually choose “Cum inside.” They really need to make a story line that shows what the girl is going through (it’s called dramatic irony:

Number 2 in our top is WVM

WVM

Now, hate me for it all you want, but this game is fairly much always going to circle back into my list as one of the top five. Food Truck Story is a close enough take on this game, if you want some ‘realism.’ SOME. Not much. The latest update actually added a scene that compounds a problem for the MC about a hundred fold, and it was already close enough to writing the MC into a corner with the audit lady.

WVM was smart enough to introduce characters that will bank roll the MC, or help him find the way to do so. With his ultimate goal being a path to the NBA, so he wouldn’t have to worry about money regardless. No matter how many women get his baby batter in the end. Heck; they actually made professional breeder his job… and I liked that aspect, since it allowed for other women to potentially join or leave the harem depending entirely on whether the MC chose them.

Hell the princess was introduced as one of them, but added into what I’ll assume is main ranks because of reception I would gather. So I’d like to see more work done with some of the “hesitants” (Skye, Harper, the breeders, the movie star etc.) to get them into the harem, and in the family way. It’s one of the best written, and better animated games on site.

Number 1 on this top is Sorcerer

I will straight up say I have issues with making a prosthetic limbed character a warrior type in any game. (especially the leg) I happen to have a minor physical disability on the right side myself. I have no real balance, so I can’t be the fighter I would be otherwise. She would be fucked, and not by the MC. (I do allow it a pass because Magic) Make her deaf, or blind and there’d be no problem.

Hell, make her legally blind, and she could still partly see. 9/10 ‘blind’ people do have some vision statistically. It still counts as ‘diabled’ but it doesn’t maim the character’s ability to actually fight. You’re done. Good job, and all the brownie points to you.

The next problem is the “fuck a granny” issue. First, I do like Xhou as a character, but in a game with magic, not every fetish (and yes, I would call this one) needs to be shown. It’s not attractive to most people, and if ‘age is nothing but a number;’ the MC has MAGIC. So do several other better trained characters, and a DEMON LORD she was at one point fucking, who wants the MC to grant her ‘a life’ [Because straight up saying “Breed Me Daddy” is too hard??? It’s not that smart a riddle, and MC is a block head sometimes] She should either be de-aged, or treated as a friend.

There are more than enough actually viable women for him to chase, but while we’re on the subject, the protect my daughter… that’s an option that COULD be a viable wife and tie MC to Xhou’s bloodline to mark her permanently allied. Even if it’s much later in content.

There’s the fact that if it’s so all-fired (heh) important to have Sorcerers in the world that they do a breeding program (by the great houses) then MAYBE get on that? I actually love that all but very few scenes are an internal ending, but so far, no consequence. It’s like watching all the harem anime that implies pregnancy is a goal/wanted… less fun, and less of a draw with no pay off.

However I will cover the game in full with a review at some point. A bigger issue is that it’s been put out a few times in bits and pieces. If there’s patch points on the download list, it can make it frustrating for players to download to try it. So it’s best to only release it in a one link state. Just an opinion, and a hope to make things less frustrating for everyone involved. We can, and most of us will be patient. (Mostly, I can’t make that promise… without Tamara’s help)

Conclusion

So, hands up peeps, how many biscuits did I toast? Really, well… who can blame me; I’m the big bad wolf at heart. So far, no one’s brought any silver bullets. Number 5 in our top is occupied by Luke’s Way

Personally, I like this game a lot.  Yeah I know there are some that don’t do visual novels. I get everyone has their tastes. It follows a path that’s pretty hard to mess up.

There are a few oddball times where the behavior doesn’t necessarily match the choices made; and I think a few of the newer updates have probably crossed a few lines in that regard as far as wires.

Number 5 – Luke’s Way

It’s not bad, but I do worry that it’s starting to overly complicate issues.

There’s the fact that one Christmas update had the MC talk about impregnating Melissa and Rachel (The mom character who’s just a friend without the patch) So far, Melissa’s been sidelined, hard. It also seems to be complicating the issue of whether you can bork yourself with some choices.

As far as I’ve read, but it’s pretty good at being decently straightforward if you keep going long enough.

They do need to stop with the pregnancy blue balls and just get into the marriage: It’s going to be open anyway, according to Michelle, so get it done, make her happy and let it just be overall a happy game.

Number 4 is taken by WVM

Overall I am insanely pleased with the progress of this game. I could stand with clarification about Harper as a GF, and Skye as well, and I don’t like they seem to have abandoned the pregnancy thing for the time being (I happen to enjoy conception as a thing, I still won’t call it a kink) They did finally get Jasmine as your Gf, and they did something I didn’t expect with Stacy.

Number 4 – WVM

So far, I’m hopeful that everything will be clear enough, and they’re not going to renege on the whole mansion full of… let’s call it “blood family.” Some topics are a bit touchy, so I have to watch for the censors. I’m not a priest you know. If that’s what some people want. Frankly, I always figured it was an odd way to slowly build up to those females being included in the harem, in the very off-hand/long run sense.

Even if not, it’s still giving people that want family, a family. Any way you look at it. Cannot recommend this one enough for those that like less consequence, and simple fun, with quality animation. – Can’t do much for you if you don’t like reading though.

Number 3 is Long Road Home

This one actually surprised the hell out of me. Which considering my furry arse is from the “deep south” should tell you something.

It’s a hard bit of going at first, but with the walkthrough mod installed, the story’s more engaging than some might think.

It’s not going to be to everyone’s taste, but it’s a good one to take a shot on, if you like Harems or want more of a Bonnie and Clyde/Sons of Anarchy with Porn take.

The animations are very well made, but there’s room to grow down a couple paths for the story so far. I’m not sure where they want to go with it, but I’m curious to find out. (Just don’t call me a cat – I’m not cool enough)

Again, gotta say I’m pretty impressed with the way this one’s going. You guys finally got to softening Fiona.

Really, REALLY wish all the devs would stop trying to make me pork or find attractive someone that is literally a grandmother though.

That’s not nearly a common kink. Not every one of them needs inclusion. Fortunately it’s a choice; unfortunately in my case I am a softy and even though she peeved me off at introduction, she had justifiable enough reasons to some extent.

I still think the way they wrote things was a bit bullshit. She’s a retcon, and that’s always harder to make pan out.

I write for a living, I do know what I’m talking about. Other than that, I’d say stop adding more characters. You haven’t even properly fleshed the storylines for half the ones you’ve created.

The harem is large enough that with young people(and potentally porking your girls when they grow up having been discussed lightly as a foregone conclusion) MC is gonna be one of those dehydrated little military/space ration packages soon enough. I do like the pregnancy but so far there’s no real evidence of it happening. I get it, the models are probably a pain to muck with. Glad it’s your job. Not mine.

Number 1 is Sorcerer

With one caveat a la mentioned above, this game actually surprised me pleasantly. Yes it has a ‘diverse’ cast that I would argue on certain points as a leg disabled person myself might verge on insulting: if it was handled less well, it also doesn’t do as much with the “monster path” split as you’d think.

The fuck a granny issue is present, but can be ignored. Except I think it’s tied to a better overall result. Here’s my problem: MAGIC. You have several ways you could grant her back years. Cast a glamor to make her look the way she was, or actually de-age her. Jesus. I do like the whole layout of the story, but for anyone with half a brain, it’s a bit slow.

Number 1 – Sorcerer

Here’s a point, instead of making him say “I don’t know” when questioned about whose life, have him be the super smart/street smart guy he’s mostly written as and point out, there’s more than one way to give her a life. Like the one he pretty much two seconds before that might have put into the demon’s belly for nine months. C’mon… it’s not that hard to figure out. Also, and this is a bit of a growing nitpick but LET THE PLAYER choose if they WANT to be called Master.

Don’t just have the main character say don’t call me that. It’s actively ignoring there’s a large amount of people sexually that do enjoy that title.

I happen to be one of them, and if he’s got enough courage/power or raw luck to be the “hero” then he gets to (by player choice involved) be called Master because the main girl will let him. Other than that, exceptional story so far. More monsters on the monster side/less monsters on the human side.

A clearer path to the story’s end game all around and you have definitely got something. I would suggest a little more clarity in the choices going forward. Maybe not as many fail states, but that applies to every game in the genre.

Conclusion

This is my list for the month, there are plenty I still love and could recommend.

I will point out as a dead horse, and a tired beating drum, not every game needs to be Dark Souls. I don’t play these games to “fail.” I personally don’t like rubix cubes.

With all the walkthrough mods that’ve come out, I’m just going to say it. I’m undead, it’s too late to damn me for it anyway.

Make the choices IN GAME clear. Write it into the coding, it would probably take an extra two seconds more work if you’d done it from the start.

Especially since you’ve all seemingly gone at this to be complicated. No one playing these games should need to be a rocket scientist to figure out the best way forward. That’s all folks. Remember, it’s all fun in games, until some wicked prick misses and pokes your eye out. Have fun, my friends. It’s good to be back, and when I’m bad, I’m even better.
